How Virtual Collaboration is a Game Changer for Team Building in Your Preschool

In many early learning environments, I have found that there is often resistance and hesitation to incorporating a virtual team collaboration tool into communication processes. However, the truth is that in today’s world, implementing a virtual team collaboration app can be a huge positive game-changer for your center’s culture, especially if you have multiple shifts or locations. It can be used to help your team come together, stay connected and in the loop, and show each other some extra love and appreciation even when they can’t be together in the same room.

In the brand new YouTube video below, I am going to share two easy and proven-to-be-effective virtual team collaboration apps that both my team utilizes and preschool owners within the Child Care Success Academy.

Key takeaways from this video:

  • The two best, most effective and efficient virtual team collaboration apps that both my team utilizes and preschool owners within the Child Care Success Academy are…

    • Slack: We actually use this one in the Child Care Success Company and it’s a total game changer when it comes to communication and relationship-building. It takes away the clogging factor in your email inbox and allows team members to start conversation threads, share files, and encourage one another all in one platform. On our team we have a “Random” channel where we celebrate birthdays and share memes among other things. We also have a variety of business channels for every department and also particular project-based threads. When a project is over, the thread can simply be archived. We use this in conjunction with Zoom, and this has allowed us to stay connected and grow our culture even though our team is all completely virtual and spread out around the world.

    • Microsoft Teams: Many of our early learning members use this tool. It’s an all-in-one solution for video chatting, remote meetings, one-on-one meetings, and recordings. Everything is stored in one place. If you already use a variety of Microsoft apps, this might be a great choice.

  • Virtual collaboration is such an important team-building component in today’s world, especially when we live far away from each other or can’t be together for whatever reason. It’s amazing for your productivity and efficiency across your teaching and leadership teams. Most platforms offer free trials to test out how a particular program or organizational method would work for your team, so you can find exactly what’s right for your center.
